UL Specialist/Electrical Engineer

John Boos & Co., a fast-growing leader in the commercial kitchen market supplying custom stainless steel equipment, is accepting applications for a full-timeĀ UL Specialist/Electrical Engineer for our stainless fabrication facility. Responsible for overseeing all aspects of Underwriters Laboratory (UL) processes and functions.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Bid all projects forwarded by Estimators.
- Oversee all phases of wiring and assembly of UL project, including coordinating with production managers to ensure completion by assigned ship date.
- Create and provide electricians with drawings, identifying all components needed to complete project.
- Ensure all needed electrical components are available and on-hand.
- Occasionally install, wire and connect electrical products and components from various suppliers to UL standards.
- Occasionally build and/or assemble stainless steel cabinets, tables and over-shelving components using hand tools and some special fabrication tools.
- Maintain precise records of past, present and future projects, accurately maintain inventory of electrical components, and estimate electrical projects.
- Oversee production of mobile 3-compartment sinks and computer cabinets, including maintaining inventory and ordering parts for both lines.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly motivated, have a quality mindset and problem solving abilities, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
- Must have good understanding of the National Electrical Code.
- Must be familiar with circuit breaker sizing and selection.
- Must understand load center balance and use of load calculator to create load schedules.
- Must be able to read contractor supplied electrical plans and have working knowledge of blueprints.
- Must be able to operate Digital Multimeter and POT Tester.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Must have good communication skills and be able to think logically.
- Must be able to work independently.
EXPERIENCE:
- Electrical design: 2 years (Preferred)
EDUCATION:
- Bachelors in Electrical Engineering (Preferred)
