Measuring 5' round and 10" thick, this larger than life block weighs in at an astonishing 1,000 pounds! No smoke or mirrors were used in the making of this beauty. It is 100% solid hard rock maple all the way through. The end grain construction gives it a checkerboard design – the authentic, signature look of a true butcher's block.
What might a block this size be used for, you may ask yourself. Well, a hole will be cut out of the middle of it to insert a cooktop/warming unit. The block will be used as a carving/serving station in a university where brisket, chicken, steaks, etc. will be sliced and served.
This colossal masterpiece will be on display in the John Boos & Co. Showroom & Outlet at 507 E. Fayette only for a short time, from now through Saturday, Nov 12, 2011.
